    7 First Trimester Essentials

Since I’ve started in on the Second trimester I thought I would come up with a list of must haves to survive the first trimester! Some my say you’re a veteran mom when you’ve had more than one kid, I can honestly say this being my third I’m still learning new tricks and way to survive this pregnancy! All three of my pregnancies so far have been so different in many ways. I’ve had different level of morning sickness with all of them. Some of these things on the list may seem like no brainers but I remember being pregnant with Kellan and having no idea what I was supposed to do. I read so many blogs that helped me get an idea of what I needed to have a healthy pregnancy.

    Water Bottle

Having a good water bottle that you can easily carry around with you and fill up throughout the day is crucial. Staying hydrated is number one during pregnancy and even after if  you’re nursing! I used this water bottle in the beginning with Kellan because I liked that I could put a lot of water in it. I also got this water bottle because I liked the straw and it was easier to drink.

    Prenatal Vitamins

I’ve heard of some moms not taking prenatals. Personally, I like to. It gives me peace of mind knowing I’m getting all the vitamins I need to grow a healthy baby. With this third baby because I know I take them my whole pregnancy and even after birth while I’m nursing I bought this brand at Costco because they are so much cheaper and you get a whole lot more. I bought two bottle that will last this entire pregnancy.

    Ginger Candies

I picked some up at our local health food store. If you go to Trader Joes, Sprouts, or a Whole Foods they have a section with bins of different dried fruit. The ginger candies really help with the nausea. The taste is a little spicy at first but once you keep eating them you get use to it.

    Gum

This goes with the ginger candies. I find if I’m starting to feel nauseas if I have gum to chew on it settles my stomach until I can eat something. I usually keep some in my purse and car for just in case moments.  My favorite flavor is the wintergreen and peppermint.

    Granola Bar
A good and healthy granola bar is so great to have on hand in those uncontrollable hunger urges. If you know me, Devon I’m talking to you, you know for some reason while I’m pregnant I get HANGRY! It’s a real thing! I have to eat right away or I start to feel sick and that makes me cranky.  Having granola bars to tie me over until I can get something to eat is a total sanity saver. These are some of my favorites here and here.

    Saltine Crackers

Again, with the snacks I always keep some next to my bed for when I get hungry in the middle of the night I have a few to snack on. Ethan loves when I crunch on these in bed and 2 and 3 in the morning, don’t cha babe!

    Lush Bath Bombs

This pregnancy I’ve been loving taking a bath (of course with the water not too hot. You want to make sure you don’t overheat yourself.) I’m not sure if it’s because I get a little quiet time or if it’s because I get to just relax and soak for a little bit, but I love taking a bath at least once a week. When I was pregnant with the boys I loved third trimester baths. It was so relaxing when your feet and back hurt from caring that baby around all day.  These are my favorite bath bombs I’ve been using.  The Ickle Baby Bots I buy for the boys but don’t tell them I’ve been using them because I love the lavender smell!  I also love this one, this one, and this one!

I hope you guys enjoyed this list and found some if not all of these useful. What are some of your favorite essentials to get you through your first trimester of pregnancy?

    SURPRISE!!!

As some people may know.. WE’RE HAVING A BABY!

Yes you read that right. We are adding a 5th member to the band.

If you didn’t know than SURPRISE!

    IMG_7307

We are excited for this new and wild experience we’re going to have. Knox has no idea whats going on but still likes to kiss my belly because big brother does. Even though Kellan is only 2 he still remembers kissing my belly when I was pregnant with Knox. He always tells me Knox is the baby and he’s not in my belly. I have to let him know we have a new baby coming.

My due date is September 6th but we’re pretty positive this baby will be born in August. Given my track record with the boys, Kellan was born at 38 weeks and Knox was born at 37 weeks, I’m guessing this baby will be here August 18th. We’ll find out the gender at the end of April. Ethan really wants a girl but I don’t mind what it is either way.

What do you think the gender of this baby will be??

    Birth Story | Knox Cooper

I know the past couple of months have been crazy and I’ve been MIA but I’ve got a fun project I’ve been working on and I can’t wait to share with with everyone! I figured since my little Knox is turning 1 today I would recap on his birth story so I could have in case I ever forgot..(which I know I won’t because that was the most pain I’ve ever experienced in my entire life!) Get a drink ready because this is going to be a long one.

So I’ll start with this..my due date was March 13, 2016. When I had my 36 week checkup I was already dilated to 2cm so I had a feeling I would have him early, like I did oldest.    Monday came and I had my 37 week checkup. I was 4 1/2 cm dilated and almost 50% effaced. I had no signs of labor so my doctor sent me home and we were certain that by Monday next week I would have the baby. I secretly was hoping that he would be born on that Monday because he would have been a Leap Year baby and I think that would have been fun!

Wednesday February 24 came and I had no idea or plans of having a baby that day. I had started a few days back having mild contractions but I never can tell what the difference between real labor contractions and braxton hicks contractions. I woke up like normal, Kellan and I had breakfast and hung around the house. We met my mom for lunch at the Steakhouse and I remember our waitress told me that I looked like I was going to have that baby today and I laughed and thought she was crazy. Kellan and I came home and both napped. I had made dinner and we got all of our stuff ready because we were so excited for Kellan to be in his first little BMX race.

    IMG_2360

Right before we had left I felt a really bad contraction. Again, I wasn’t sure it it was a BH contraction or a labor contraction but I just remember I looked at the clock just to make sure if I felt another one I could time it. We loaded in the car and were driving on our way to the BMX track. On the way there I had another contraction and another when we got there. So they were about 10 minutes apart. I remember during the national anthem I was having one and they were getting closer together. Kellan had finished racing and as we were walking back to the car I felt A LOT of pressure. I told Ethan that we needed to get home FAST because we were going to have a baby!! My mom always says I should have just went to the hospital from there but I wasn’t ready to go to the hospital and I wanted to go pick up my bags.

    IMG_2374

I raced home and one of my girlfriends came over. I ran a bath hoping this would help me feel better. I have to say, I swear the bath helped with the pain of the contractions. I felt pressure but it was nothing like the pressure I felt before or after the bath. An hour had passed and my contractions were about 4-5 minutes apart. They say to come in when they get this close and I was ready to get out of the bath and get dressed to go. The second I got out of the bath I was having contractions 1 minute apart! I was in so much pain I started crying!! I got dressed so fast and yelled to Ethan to lets go! My girlfriend stayed to watch Kellan until one of my grandparents could come and watch him. We were on the road to the hospital and I was seriously in so much pain it felt like I was in a dramatic movie. Ethan was driving like a grandpa and I feel bad because I screamed at him to drive faster! One of my birthing fears is that I wouldn’t make it to the hospital and I would have a baby on my own! So I NEEDED Ethan to get me there FAST!

    IMG_2388

Because it was 10:30 at night we had to go through the ER so Ethan dropped me off and I got out and told them I needed to go up to labor and delivery. It felt like they had taken their sweet time before someone came to get me. (They push you in a wheelchair upstairs to the L&D area) We got up there and they got me into a room and before I even put my gown on I told them I wanted an epidural right away. She said ok we’ll work on it because they have to call somebody in since it’s so late at night. I figured 30 minutes tops. I got all settled, the nurse checked me and said I was almost dilated to 8cm and she was surprised that I even walked in there. It was now almost 11:30pm I was in so much pain, I still hadn’t gotten an epidural yet, I asked when he was going to be here she said in probably an hour that they were going to call him in right now. I remember I started crying because I couldn’t believe they hadn’t even called him yet. I was feeling a ton of pressure and asked her if she needed to check me before she called. She said, “Yeah I’ll check you right now.” She checked me and when she did she said she accidentally broke my water and I was already dilated to a 10! I just remember her saying, “Sorry sweetie, looks like you’re not going to get an epidural.” I was so devastated because with Kellan I really didn’t want to have one but I was in so much pain because of the way he was positioned that I couldn’t have been in labor that 13 hours without one! So with this baby I was like I’m not against it if I need it and because they said I couldn’t I started crying…NO TEARS! haha My doctor was called in and I just kept repeating, “I can’t have this baby without an epidural!” (I’m not dramatic or anything) My doctor assured me many times that I WAS having this baby without one and it was too late to get one. I cried and cursed and screamed and I pushed 3 separate times and at 11:47pm they placed my little 6lb 9oz baby boy on my chest.

Get Cooking In The Kitchen With HelloFresh

This post is sponsored by HelloFresh
As always all thoughts are my own

I’ve teamed up with HelloFresh and couldn’t be more excited about this concept! Especially considering we were out of town for the holidays and came back home with no food in our fridge but we did have food at the door!

They have a good selection of plans to choose from. Considering we are a family of four we got the Family Plan, which serves 2 adults and 2 children. You get three hand picked meals that contain meat, fish, and veggie recipes. The  Veggie Plan has vegetarian meals only. This meal plan comes with 3 recipes also and serves 2 – 4 adults. Last but not least the Classic Plan. You get to pick from six meal recipes. Just like the family plan it comes with fish, meat, and veggie recipes.

Kellan and I had so much fun with these recipes. The best part about the family plan is that the flavors are super kid friendly. Nothing is too spicy but the do provide extra spice for anyone who wants to add it.

     img_6834

The first day I made Garlicky Shrimp Scampi. I will be the first to admit I am not a seafood person. I have never, not once, cooked seafood in my life. I was pleasantly surprised by this recipe and yes I ate it! The recipe was incredibly easy to follow along and told me exactly what to do and when to do it. I’m notorious for starting something too early and it gets cold before everything else is done.

    img_6848

    img_6857

Let me just say, I’m excited that they come with a recipe book because these are going to be some recipes we start to rotate in our dinner menus!

    img_6910

The second day we made a Tomato Bisque that was incredible!!! I am seriously in love with this recipe and so surprised how easy it was to make! Kellan and Knox decided to help me in the kitchen this time. We had so much fun making this one together. If you can’t tell both of my boys love cheese and bread! They take after their mama!! I’m a soup out of a can kind of maker and I just love how fresh and healthy everything tasted.  I’ve already went and bought the ingredients to make it again because I loved it that much!

    img_6965

The third recipe was Chicken Satay Skewer. This was the kids favorite because well lets be honest, you can never go wrong with chicken for kids. It had a tasty peanut sauce to make and the snow peas were so delicious that I actually could have eaten them all!

    img_6903

This was so fun and definitely something we’ve never tired before but I can’t wait to for our next order! If you’re interested in trying it out and want $35 off of your first order use code HEYERIN35.

    December Favorites

I keep saying this but where the heck did the year go?! Last month I was a teeny tiny bit late on the favorites so if feels like I just made this but I’m sure excited about this months favorites!

    Bath and Body Works Candle

    img_7125

This is the candle that I loved for this Christmas season! They currently don’t have it on their site but maybe if you go check in the store they might. Also the Semi Annual Sale is going on do you definitely don’t want to miss that!  This candle is called Tis the Season. It’s a spicy/sweet smell. You get a hint of apple which I love.

    GlamGlow Gravitymud Firming Treatment

    img_7130

*When I checked back on this products this one is currently out of stock.*
So I posted in one of my YouTube videos me putting this on because I received it in last months favorites, my Sephora Play Box, I will be purchasing this when it does come back in stock because I loved how soft it made my face feel!

Boscia Makeup Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil

    img_7124

I love using this to remove my heavy duty makeup. You know the days when you put on way too much make and you end up having to wash your face two times because you just can’t get it all off! Well this cleanser is my go to when I need to get my crazy eye liner and mascara and my packed on foundation!

    Lush Toner

    img_7133

Breath of fresh air is my favorite toner of all time! If you don’t know by now I love all Lush products. The best part is these products are all natural and cruelty free. This toner is not made with any alcohol and leaves your face feeling very refreshed.

    Tartelette Tease

    img_7127

Since it was the holidays we were traveling a lot and I hate taking so much makeup with me so I try to pack sample or small size products so I’m not taking up too much room in my suitcase. I am a victim of having huge eyeshadow pallets that I never take with me when traveling because they take up too much space and always have to end up using my bronzer as an eyeshadow. This little guy is perfect for traveling.

Have you tried any of these? If you have which ones are your favorites?

    img_6714

I couldn’t be more excited to use this Start Planner.  This bad boy is so organized any planner addict would be excited to use it. It has a monthly overview and than a break down by day and into each hour. You can keep track of your water intake for the day. They also have a reminder to work out and to take your vitamins. Each month has a mini goals, grocery list, and a health check to help you keep track of your fitness goals.

Something I really love is that in the front of the planner it has a section to write down your goals for the year, monthly break down of a savings and expense plan, and it has a list for seasonal cleaning (which I DEFINITELY need in my life). When looking for your own planner what is a must have that you look for? Me, I love a good notes section because I have random thoughts and things that I need to write down so I don’t forget.
